Glenlo Abbey Hotel & Estate sits on a 138-acre estate with the original 18th-century manor house dating back to the 1740s. The hotel comprises 73 bedrooms including 6 suites, 11 Luxury Self-Catering Lodges, Corrib Suite (catering for meetings, events, and weddings for up to 170 guests), River Room Restaurant, Palmers Bar and Kitchen, The Pullman Restaurant (an original Dining Carriage from the Orient Express), Glo Spa & Wellness, and a GUI accredited Championship 9 Hole Golf Course with a 21 bay driving range.
We are currently seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the role of Switchboard Operator.
The role of the Switchboard Operator will be responsible for providing prompt and correct communications support.
Reporting to: The Front Office Manager
The Ideal Candidate Will Be
* Standards driven and detail-oriented.
* Have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
* Extremely customer focused on delivering five-star service.
* Have an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
* Willing to work a 5-day week which will include weekends.
Tasks And Responsibilities
* Provides courteous service to customers by operating the switchboard according to standards.
* Communicates clearly and courteously.
* Demonstrates fluency in the use of equipment.
* Transfers incoming calls promptly to the appropriate extension.
* Assists customers make long distance calls by instructing them on the appropriate procedures and/or placing calls for them.
* Responds to customer questions regarding the hotel, in-house facilities, and local events.
* Provides courteous, prompt, and accurate inter-hotel communications to staff and customers.
* Takes and delivers accurate and complete messages.
* Communicates with authorized employees by using the paging system and/or radio.
* Follows established hotel security and safety policies as required.
* Identifies and forwards customer mail, packages, and messages promptly.
* Prepares lists and reports as requested.
* Responsible for reservations tasks outside of departmental opening hours.
* Checks the daily arrival list.
