Job Title: Automation Engineer
Job Summary
European Tech Recruit is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support new clients with their technology development and enhance existing manufacturing processes. This role will be responsible for improving production efficiency, quality, safety, and overall profitability. The successful candidate will oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of projects, ensuring timely communication of project progress. Working within the Operations or Development Department, you will lead the implementation of advanced manufacturing solutions to meet customer and business requirements. This position reports directly to the Senior Automation Engineer or higher.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage new equipment, process, and product introduction projects.
2. Develop and implement manufacturing strategies to align with business and customer needs.
3. Establish and lead project teams, defining deliverables, setting priorities, and monitoring budgets and timelines.
4. Build and maintain relationships with customers and equipment suppliers to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
5. Oversee equipment suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with specifications, and cost-effectiveness.
6. Ensure all new equipment meets regulatory, validation, and health and safety requirements.
7. Install new equipment, provide training, and facilitate a smooth transition to operations.
8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure new manufacturing processes meet business needs.
9. Identify and introduce new manufacturing methods to enhance production capabilities.
10. Represent the company at customer meetings, ensuring business objectives are achieved.
11. Establish procedures and systems to streamline the introduction of new processes and equipment.
12. Serve as a technical expert in automated manufacturing processes and support competency development within the business.
13. Ensure compliance with all site Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations.
14. Adhere to all company policies and corporate procedures.
15. Undertake additional duties as requested by management.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Engineering discipline required (Automation, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering preferred).
2. Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in Engineering or equivalent.
3. At least 3 years of experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices or pharmaceuticals.
4. Strong knowledge of PLC hardware and software, preferably Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs.
5. Experience with vision control systems such as Cognex Vision Systems.
6. High-level understanding of Industrial Network architectures (Ethernet IP, ControlNet, Profibus) with troubleshooting ability.
7. Knowledge of EU-GMP, FDA Quality System Regulation, cGMP, and relevant ISO standards.
8. Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
9. Experience in medical, packaging, or technological industries, particularly with regulatory requirements and serialization.
Travel Requirements
1. Up to 5% travel (approximately 13 business days per year).
