Job Summary
:
In this role, the Senior Director, Global Strategic Sourcing Medical Devices is a key member of the Global Strategic Sourcing organization. He or She must be an inspiring leader, experienced in building high performance teams, and scalable best-in-class processes to support medical device manufacturing. Will develop and lead a team of skilled Sourcing experts who can translate strategic ideas and initiatives into cost competitive solutions through out-of-box strategies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electromechanical medical device manufacturing with internal and external manufacturing partners through strategy development, negotiations, commercial relationship management and operations management with specific knowledge of metalwork, plastics, electronics and EMS manufacturing services.
The Senior Director, Global Strategic Sourcing Medical Devices will provide strategic leadership and management of all sourcing activities at Medical Devices business and guidance to CM business at West, which includes high level of complexity in sourcing strategy development, procurement, supplier relationship management, new product development, quality assurance, and supply chain challenges. He/she will develop and lead a team of skilled sourcing experts whose strategic ideas, initiatives and decision making will have significant impact into business cost competitiveness, long term device manufacturing strategy, product category management and supports business development team with acquisitions. There are both domestic and international dimensions to procurement responsibilities. Reporting to the Vice President Global Strategic Sourcing & Procurement this role is responsible for front-line direct report leaders at multiple locations, for managing device suppliers and significantly growing spend with them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for development and consolidation of key sourcing metrics, including sole source reduction, supplier segmentation, CM consolidation, LCC expansion, contract implementation, PPV and deflation.
2. Direct and oversee competitive bid processes including RFPs, RFIs and RFQs for all products, components, finished goods and services to reduce overall costs and improve cash flow through negotiations.
3. Build second source programs and a continuous improvement environment between West and component suppliers through value engineering initiatives, VATF & OPEX initiatives.
4. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and with suppliers to negotiate and make deals that drive resolution and create value for West.
5. Lead sourcing presentations and annual budgets for executive review. Accountable for annual and quarterly Devices Sourcing review for executive steering committee.
6. Possesses and manages assigned CM spend; research and understand cost drivers of relevant markets and recommend supplier strategies for improving the overall supply chain value proposition.
7. Work closely with Supplier Quality to lead supplier level compliance to quality and regulatory policies related to supplier management, and monitor/ correct supplier issues.
8. Maintain and promote sound relationships with suppliers, utilize sound negotiation and value strong analysis skills to reduce overall costs and increase cash flow.
9. Establish/develop metrics for supplier performance and lead supplier relationship management reviews.
10. Manage NPD & BD programs related to devices Manufacturing to ensure early involvement.
11. Lead supplier specific cost improvement programs yielding at least yearly cost saving targets.
12. Drive project and business objectives in partnership with project team members; quickly identify and mitigate risks in partnering with category and risk management teams.
13. Investigate markets, competitors, emerging trends and evaluate contract Manufactures capabilities and sustainability to produce medical products for West.
14. Lead devices sourcing team globally to drive improvements in supplier risk, spend data base, NPD, make vs. buy, contract management, quality, and innovation; assess team and individual performance.
15. Must be an excellent recruiter and have a track record as a developer of high-performance teams and individuals.
16. Lead other ad hoc analysis and projects as required.
Basic Qualifications:
17. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Strategy, Operations Management, or related major. Masters in business administration is a plus.
18. Lean Manufacturing and Lean Concepts, Process Improvement and Facilitation skills.
19. Minimum 12+ years progressive experience in Medical Devices, Manufacturing, Operations, Strategic Sourcing, Commodities, Electronics, EMS, Supply chain of a fast paced highly regulated environment.
20. Project management, new product introduction, product transfers, stage-gate process and product lifecycle management experience highly desirable.
21. Experience working or leading programs with global companies at overseas locations.
22. Minimum 8 years of direct management experience leading high performance teams in complex global manufacturing environment.
23. Ability to build strong collaborative relationships, influence multiple stakeholders and establish common goals and objectives.
24. Strong team management skills with proven ability to influence and to communicate with diverse stakeholders across functions and geographies.
25. Passionate and high energy leader who possesses diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to positively influence others and has ability to adopt strong intercultural competency.

Travel Requirements:
34. Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
