A Senior Buyer is required to join a rapid growing business based in Cork. My client is looking for an enthusiastic individual who has previous experience to join their dynamic and growing procurement and operations function in one of Ireland's leading businesses on a full-time permanent basis
As the Senior Buyer, you will support the Head of Department in leading, developing and implementing the procurement strategy. You will work within a stable team carrying out duties including monitoring market dynamics, industry trends and emerging technologies and progressing to other duties below.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer:
* Manage the product portfolio, maintaining a competitive and innovative assortment.
* Oversee procurement processes, including sales history analysis, demand forecasting, purchase requisitions, stock purchase orders, and stock transfers.
* Address supply chain considerations such as capacity, constraints, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure on-time, in-full delivery.
* Optimise inventory levels to prevent stockouts and minimize surplus stock.
* Conduct price negotiations and manage RFPs, RFQs, bid evaluations, and delivery charges to achieve optimal product costs.
* Leverage market insights and sales team feedback to implement pricing strategies, optimize profitability, and enhance competitiveness.
* Track portfolio performance using data-driven insights to evaluate sales, costs, margins, service levels, and stock against targets.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives. Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure availability, innovation, cost-efficiency, and ongoing improvements.
* Partner with suppliers to deliver customer-focused initiatives that drive growth and profitability. Collaborate across departments to understand procurement needs and support portfolio success. Perform necessary administrative tasks such as requisitions, stock orders, invoice matching, credit notes, and bid evaluations.
Required skills and experience of the Senior Buyer:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.
* At least 3-5 years of proven commercial and procurement experience, preferably within wholesale or retail industries in the Irish market.
* Demonstrated ability to negotiate and optimise costs while building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
* Strong ability to interpret complex data and market trends to support informed decision-making.
* Excellent verbal and written communication, engagement, and presentation skills. Proven ability to influence stakeholders and achieve positive outcomes.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and experience using purchasing platforms and ERP systems.
* Capacity to develop and execute strategic procurement capabilities in the medium term.
