Doyle Shipping Group Cork4 days agoTransportation / LogisticsDescriptionJob Title: Chief EngineerThe Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the Engine Department, ensuring the safety and efficiency of vessel operations.Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate personnel assigned to the Engine Department.Ensure compliance with safety regulations, cleanliness standards, fire prevention measures, and emergency procedures within Engine Department spaces.Maintain adherence to environmental management procedures within his department.Oversee shared workshop facilities in the deck area, under supervision of the Chief Engineer.Maintain engine logs, vessel drawings, and technical manuals, noting all changes and modifications.Administer computerised maintenance system SK/TM-MASTER/DMSI-Manager on board, including DNV requirements for Planned Maintenance System (PMS).Supply bunkers and oil data to the Master/Chief Officer for trim and stability calculations.Train and instruct department personnel, ensuring they are familiar with emergency assignments, firefighting appliances, and hold relevant experience.Collaborate with the Master on emergency preparedness, pollution prevention, and spill response.Establish effective watch systems and ensure procedures for bunkering, overboard discharge, and engine operation are carried out.Notify the Master prior to stopping or reducing engine revolutions when possible.Operate the department as cost-effectively as possible.Qualifications:Meet mandatory and company certificate, training course requirements.Hold Chief Engineer - 3000kW qualification, STCW certification, and ENG1 medical certificate; be resident in Ireland.
