Data Centre Engineering Operations Chief Engineer, ARN- DCEO
As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. You will serve as the primary focal point for all facility operations supporting Amazon's owned and operated data centers.
You should be capable of managing large-scale projects and supporting new regions from conception to completion. These projects require independent work and collaboration with external teams, including engineering, automation, procurement, and finance, in both local and global contexts. Your role includes creating and delivering key milestones, managing costs, and documenting project outcomes to inform future implementations. The goal is to drive innovation and resiliency while reducing operational costs.

Key job responsibilities
1. Train and support the engineering team in troubleshooting and operating electrical and mechanical equipment.
2. Implement site-specific training exercises covering equipment like generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, etc.
3. Oversee daily operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
4. Operate independently with limited management oversight.
5. Assist in designing and building new facilities; analyze equipment failures.
6. Act as escalation point for facility issues; support site stability, including OT hours.
7. Troubleshoot and report facility and server-level events within SLAs.
8. Create and enforce standard practices for engineering teams and vendors.
9. Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff.

* Manage operations and maintenance of data center equipment.

* Oversee third-party vendors ensuring safety and compliance.
* Utilize administrative tools for change management, ticketing, and asset management.
* Work flexible hours, including shifts up to 12 hours, possibly rotating.

Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* At least 3 years of data center operations experience.
Preferred qualifications
* Over 6 years of operations and on-call support for data centers or critical facilities.
* High/Low Voltage Authorized Person certification.
* Basic knowledge of network design and low voltage cabling.
* Project management experience.
