Senior Automation Engineer The Senior Automation Engineer role for will be responsible for the efficient implementation of automation solutions for Isolator projects to client requirements. The Sr. Automation Engineer will be responsible for full end to end delivery of the automation component of projects including all documents and code in compliance to GAMP-V processes. This role will lead the standardisation of software and documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Liaise with interested parties such as Clients/Sales production, technical etc. to define the requirements of a project. Specify, design, install, test and commission new equipment as required Development and programming of machine-oriented visualisations and cross-machine SCADA systems in the pharmaceutical industry Write and modify PLC software for new projects and support existing software on clients' sites. Create and design the required design document such as Instrument Schedule (IS), FDS, SDS, HDS, and input into electrical design Typical tasks will include the management of specifications, design, purchasing of equipment, interpreting electrical schematics, overseeing the Build of projects within budget, allocated time, and corporate guidelines, commissioning, and handover. Work with sales team to help deliver competitive solutions to the industry as directed by the Manager Responsible to help maintain a safe, healthy, ethically and environmentally responsible workplace and business Responsible for Automation Variation Change Requests (VCR) with clients where scope deviates from "as sold" specification. Management of procurement of long lead time items for projects with the procurement team to meet project timelines. Management of Factory and Site Acceptance Testing protocols and execution (FAT / SAT) Support existing equipment with after-sales support Travel to client sites as required for commissioning SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 7+ years of previous Automation Engineering experience Competent working with technical and electrical drawings and specifications, and have previously demonstrated the ability to build strong working relationships both within their team and working across multi-disciplinary teams Strong project management skills are a distinct advantage for this position with proven problem-solving skills Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills with a proven ability to work directly with Customers and/or to manage self and assigned resources to meet schedule and budget requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills through English Multitask ability to work with several projects at a time Experience of Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as used within the Life Sciences industry EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED: Level 8 Degree in computer science, Controls and Automation, or equivalent with relevant experience Experience in Allen Bradley/Siemens PLC programming and HMI/SCADA systems (Studio 5000, TIA Portal, Ladder Logic, WinCC, Unified, FactoryTalk) Knowledge of EU-ATEX & US HazLoc Guidelines an advantage Knowledge of communications protocols and networking a distinct advantage such as Profinet, Ethernet IP, ModBus, Profibus Morgan McKinley is acting as an Employment Agency and references to pay rates are indicative.
