Canada Life Europe (CLE) is seeking a talented Senior Systems Analyst (SAN) who is passionate about technical analysis, has an agile mindset and a proven track record of delivering high standards of work in a complex and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of Analysis Best Practices to present requirements clearly and systematically, exhibit outstanding stakeholder management and communication abilities, and take complete ownership of their responsibilities.
This role will be working in the Enterprise Backoffice Applications team with a focus on delivering automation initiatives for back-office administration processes and ideally the candidate will have strong experience within the life and pensions industry, working with complex back-office systems and understanding the business processes supported by these systems.
As a senior systems analyst, you will also mentor junior SAN practice members and actively contribute to CLE's Business/Systems Analysis centre of excellence.
What you will help us to achieve
• Work within the Enterprise Backoffice Applications service line to support project(s) progression via Analysis and QA skills, in conjunction with other team members
• Interact extensively with business stakeholders to develop an excellent understanding of business implications of IT decisions
• Work with IT and Business Stakeholders to understand the business architecture and the high-level business requirements
• Facilitate requirements gathering workshops with business and IT teams to design new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity
• Examine existing business processes and data flows, demonstrate, and discuss their findings with the business, agree a set of requirements and design an appropriate IT solution in conjunction with the project team and stakeholders
• Translate business requirements into formal business requirements documentation and functional specifications and/or Agile artefacts such as Epics, features, user stories etc.
• Develop and maintain complex Data models for CLE systems using industry standard modelling and diagramming techniques and tools
• Work with 3rd party vendors, software developers, QA and end users (Business Stakeholders) to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction throughout the SDLC from ideation through to implementation using both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Complete Project reporting using confluence and contribute to Analysis workshops
• Work with Application Support and Software Developers to resolve issues
• Supervise proper implementation of a new system. Work with Test and QA Analysts to help inform the test strategy and schedule for completing the system operations and handover to production.
• Develop an excellent understanding of the CLE systems you work on in conjunction with building knowledge of the CLE products these systems service
• Contribute to the advancement of systems analysis capabilities at Canada Life and support the continuous improvement of systems analysis methods, tools and techniques within the CLE SAN practice centre of excellence
• Apply the Canada Life approved methodologies and standards in delivering recommendations that are compliant with Portfolio and Enterprise Architecture direction.
What you will need to be successful in the role
• Experience of industry best practices in relation to Business/Systems Analysis techniques and methodologies which should be aligned with those standards set out in the BABOK guide
• Proven track record of translating complex requirements into comprehensive documentation which can be understood by Business and I.S. team members alike.
• Experience in the Financial Services sector (in particular Life and Pensions Insurance products and applications)
• Excellent organisational skills and methodical approach to delivering change in a complex and fast paced financial services company
• Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in both Waterfall and Agile scrum software development lifecycles
• Excellent team player with a passion for working in a collaborative manner with stakeholders and other team members within I.S. department
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Fluent written and verbal English
Technologies & Tools:
• Hands on experience of using Jira and confluence for storing documentation and writing Epics features, User Stories and other artefacts as part of an Agile team.
• Microsoft office suite of tools including excel, word, PowerPoint, office365
• Flow chart and Diagramming software such as Visio, Signavio, LeanIX
Desired Skills:
• Experience working with back-office applications
• Experience working with recognised application/service delivery processes and methodology
• Experience in Business/Systems Analysis from a project perspective in a large enterprise environment with multiple data sources and technologies
• A working knowledge of German would be a key advantage
Personal Strengths:
• The candidate needs to be a self-starter and implement best of breed Analysis techniques and methodologies. They must be a team player and provide guidance, training and assistance to other more junior members of the team.
• Passionate about Analysis work with a continuous drive for improved ways of working
Necessary Qualifications / Skills:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• 3rd level qualification (honours degree), preferably in a related discipline.
