About the Role:
As Kneat continues to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and creative UX Designer to join our team to design user-centric, complex web applications tailored to the life sciences industry.
This role requires a designer who excels at understanding scientific workflows, translating complex data into intuitive interfaces, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to enhance user experiences in regulated and data-driven environments.
The ideal candidate has experience working with intricate systems and is passionate about simplifying complexity through design.
Key Responsibilities:
Interaction & Visual DesignDesign wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that reflect user needs while adhering to industry standards.
Create user flows and interaction patterns for highly complex workflows, ensuring scalability and ease of use.
Develop intuitive information architecture for navigating dense, data-heavy applications.
Collaboration with TeamsPartner with product managers, developers, and data scientists to align user experience with business goals and technical constraints.
Advocate for the user while balancing the nuances of regulatory compliance and scientific accuracy.
Provide input during Agile development cycles to ensure the implementation aligns with design specifications.
Design System & StandardsMaintain and evolve a design system that ensures consistency across the web application.
Leverage and contribute to the creation of reusable UI components specific to scientific workflows.
Data Visualization & Scientific UnderstandingDesign interfaces that effectively present complex data visualizations, charts, and analytics in user-friendly formats.
Ensure designs support high-level decision-making in scientific and regulatory contexts.
Requirements:
Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a UX Designer, preferably in the life sciences, healthcare, or related industries.
Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or Axure.
Strong portfolio showcasing complex web application designs, including data-rich dashboards and multi-step workflows.
Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of usability principles, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and responsive design.
Experience designing for complex systems with significant data and regulatory requirements.
Ability to create data visualizations and interactive elements that are intuitive and insightful.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Azure DevOps and Jira.
Knowledge of HTML/CSS principles for effective collaboration with developers (coding skills not required but a plus).Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to advocate for design decisions.
Nice to Have:
Experience in the life sciences domain, such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare IT.Knowledge of FDA or EMA guidelines related to software design and usability.
