Senior Physiotherapist
Medforce is recruiting a Senior Physiotherapist on behalf of a leading acute hospital in Wexford, specialising in the care and rehabilitation of older adults. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to join a supportive, multidisciplinary team committed to improving the quality of life and functional independence of older patients.
About the Role:
As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in assessing, planning, and delivering physiotherapy interventions tailored to the complex needs of older adults across acute and rehab settings. You will also provide clinical leadership and mentorship to junior staff and contribute to the development of age-friendly, patient-centred services.
Key Responsibilities of the Senior Physiotherapist:
1. Complete advanced assessments and deliver evidence-based physiotherapy to older adults with a variety of physical, neurological, and age-related conditions
2. Develop individualised care and rehab plans in collaboration with the MDT
3. Support early discharge and transitional care planning
4. Mentor and supervise junior physiotherapists and students
5. Contribute to service audits, quality improvement, and innovation projects
6. Promote best practices in falls prevention, mobility, and functional rehabilitation
Essential Requirements of the Senior Physiotherapist:
1. BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
2. CORU registration as a Physiotherapist
3. Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience, with at least 1 year in a relevant setting (e.g., older persons, rehab, or acute care)
4. Strong clinical reasoning, leadership, and communication skills
5. A compassionate, person-centred approach to care
Desirable:
1. Postgraduate training in gerontology, neurorehabilitation, or falls prevention
2. Experience working in acute hospitals or inpatient rehab settings
3. Knowledge of age-related services and integrated care pathways
