Principal Mechanical Engineer - Data CentresListed: 17 Feb 2025MEP ConsultancyDublinMy Client are an Award Winning International Multidisciplinary Design Consultancy who are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team to manage and undertake design work and technical project co-ordination in either their Dublin office.The successful Mechanical Engineer will be a part of a busy team providing design and technical services on various Data Centre projects in Ireland & Europe.Responsibilities:Conceptual design studies, preparation of sketches and report writingCarry out mechanical design including but not limited to building analysis, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, specialist gas, water services, drainage and fire suppression systemsReviewing design work of junior engineersMentoring and development of junior engineers in the groupEstimating and Cost Control on projectsEnsuring full co-ordination between specifications and drawingsCoordination of work with all members of design teams (architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS etc.)Compilation of Specifications for Mechanical Services and InstallationsPreparation of guidance documentsPreparation of contract documentation and specificationsAttendance at design team meetingsAttendance on site, completion of site inspections and site inspection reportsCompiling project reportsMinimum Qualifications:Degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience, most of which will be in design gained within a consultancy environment.Chartered or Progressing to achieve chartership.Technically excellent in the design of laboratory based HVAC, pressure cascades, specialist gases, understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, in Industry, Healthcare and/or Third Level EducationExperience in a wide range of medium to large-scale projectsDeveloping and maintaining good relationships with industry networks and design team members relative to the team’s activitiesKnowledge and interest in the implementation of sustainability measures in designsKnowledge of relevant industry standards and codes of practiceAbility to deliver projects on time and within budgetCompetent in electrical design softwareAbility to work in a BIM environmentRevit capabilities an advantageBenefits:€70,000 to €80,000 – Dependent on ExperienceProfit SharingDouble Matching Pension ContributionsTravel SubsistenceHealthcare SubsidyHybrid WFH optionsFurther benefits availableTo register your interest, please forward your CV to Jennie Hoare at jennie@ssaltd.com.
