Your new role includes:
Customer Service:
Provide expert advice to customers on plant care, gardening, and landscaping, helping them make informed decisions for their gardens and outdoor spaces
Plant Care:
Oversee the health and maintenance of the garden centre's plant stock, including watering, pruning, and pest management
Product Knowledge:
Stay up to date with the latest trends in horticulture, gardening products, and techniques to offer accurate and current information to customers
Merchandising:
Assist in creating attractive plant displays and arrange plants to maximize sales and showcase various gardening themes
Inventory Management:
Monitor plant stock levels, assist with ordering, and ensure that plants are well-stocked, labelled, and priced correctly
Seasonal Responsibilities:
Manage seasonal shifts in plant availability, customer demand, and garden centre displays, ensuring smooth transitions through changing seasons
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the garden centre team to ensure the store is well-organised and customer focused
Experience you need:
Proven experience as a Horticulturist or in a similar role, preferably within a retail garden centre environment.
Strong knowledge of plants, composts, fertilisers & chemicals, garden tools, and gardening techniques.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in maintaining plant care and inventory.
A passion for plants and gardening with a proactive, enthusiastic approach to the role.
A relevant horticultural qualification is preferred but not required.
