About the Role
We are seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a full-time permanent basis. The successful candidate will be based predominantly in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for MEP works based on project plans and specifications.
* Evaluate costs throughout the project to ensure they stay within budget.
2. Tendering and Procurement:
* Assist in preparing tender documents for subcontractors and suppliers.
* Evaluate tenders and select contractors or suppliers based on cost and quality considerations.
3. Contract Management:
* Prepare and review contracts for MEP works.
* Ensure compliance with contract terms during the construction phase.
* Manage variations or changes to the contract, including scope or design changes.
4. Cost Control and Monitoring:
* Track and monitor MEP project costs throughout the construction phase.
* Identify and address any cost overruns or discrepancies.
* Provide regular cost reports and updates to the project manager or client.
5. Risk Management:
* Identify potential financial risks related to MEP works and develop strategies to mitigate them.
* Offer advice on cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or compliance.
6. Value Engineering:
* Collaborate with design teams to suggest cost-effective and efficient alternatives for MEP systems that maintain functionality while reducing costs.
7. Measurement and Valuation:
* Measure and quantify materials, labour and equipment needed for MEP installations.
* Prepare interim valuations to ensure proper payment to contractors for completed works.
8. Final Accounts:
* Prepare the final account for MEP works once the project is completed, ensuring accurate accounting for all costs.
* Resolve any disputes regarding the final cost and assist in finalising payments.
9. Site Inspections and Coordination:
* Regularly visit the construction site to assess the progress of MEP installations.
* Coordinate with contractors, engineers and other teams to ensure MEP systems are installed according to design and specifications.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role.
* Demonstrated capability in construction delivery.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying.
* Familiarity with MEP drawings and plans.
