Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced leader to manage night operations at our depots, focusing on service, cost, productivity, and throughput. The successful candidate will lead a team of direct reports, overseeing all night operations functions within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
The role will contribute to strategic planning for Central Operation teams, ensuring alignment with company goals.
Operational Management:
* Manage night operations sortation processes and parcel movements according to company policy.
* Oversee quality procedures at night, ensuring they are delivered effectively.
* Develop and implement holiday planning in line with operational requirements.
* Exceed company-set service levels across all areas of responsibility.
* Achieve Hub sortation unit cost targets.
* Lead the night yard traffic management team, ensuring safe and efficient movement of site traffic.
Financial Management:
* Control night Hub operations costs through financial planning and review.
* Contribute to annual and period planning, providing financial insights.
Service Delivery:
* Collaborate with Operations Support and other departments to provide support to depot networks.
Health and Safety/Security:
* Implement and monitor the company Health and Safety policy during Night Operations.
* Contribute to Security Policy, promoting security awareness and enforcing vehicle and personnel searches.
HR Management:
* Liaise with the HR Department to support Hub Night Team recruitment.
* Develop and implement strategies to improve employee retention.
* Investigate and resolve disciplinary, grievance, and appeal hearings according to company procedures.
* Effectively manage employees through communication, appraisals, training, and coaching.
* Develop directly line managers and their reports through communication, appraisals, training, and individual development and coaching.
* Reduce lost time due to absence and sick pay costs.
* Manage the On Job Trainer programme (OJT's), ensuring new starters receive appropriate training.
* Participate in regular meetings with union/employee representatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
* Undertake projects designated by the CEO and collaborate with Heads of Departments on other initiatives.
* Liaise with external consultants, design agencies, and independent auditors to support the production of the company Annual Report and CSR Report.
Qualifications:
* Third-level qualification in supply chain or similar field.
* Experience in a similar role, with flexibility around working hours.
* Excellent people skills, communication skills, and administrative and IT skills, including Warehouse Management Systems and MS Office.
* Full clean driver's license.
