Site Health & Safety Manager Position Overview
This leadership role is responsible for fostering a positive health and safety culture within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership and Culture Development: Provide strategic direction to improve health and safety outcomes across the organization, aligning with company objectives.
* Health and Safety Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive site health and safety strategy, including initiatives to enhance Health and Safety performance.
* Metric Reporting: Ensure accurate reporting of site Health and Safety metrics and meet target values as set by the company.
* Regulatory Compliance: Drive adherence to Health and Safety procedures and the Site Safety Statement in compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations into significant incidents, reportable accidents, and major property damage, and ensure that necessary actions are taken to prevent future occurrences.
* Zero Harm Initiative: Champion the Zero Harm initiative through training and awareness campaigns to promote a culture of zero harm.
* Audit and Risk Assessment: Conduct regular safety audits in conjunction with Production Area Managers and other relevant Managers to inspect and check site-wide processes, procedures, and practices.
* Risk Assessments and Training: Implement programs related to risk assessments (new product development and trials, new equipment, and engineering requirements) and provide training to internal departments on-site.
* Employee and Visitor Safety: Review and revise employee, visitor, and contractor safety induction programs to ensure they meet current standards.
* Training Strategy: Develop and deploy a comprehensive training strategy covering all needs of internal departments on-site.
* Legislative Compliance: Stay up-to-date with new legislation and standards related to health and safety.
* Representative Role: Represent the Company during outside Agency Audits/Inspections and liaise as required with the Health & Safety Authority.
* Health and Safety Committee: Establish, coordinate, and manage site Health and Safety committees to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
* Educational Background: Primary degree in Engineering, Science, or equivalent, in conjunction with a recognized Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Experience: Minimum of 4 years' experience at H&S Manager level within an FMCG manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing.
* Health and Safety Expertise: Proven capabilities in developing and implementing world-class health and safety management systems to ISO standards in a manufacturing environment.
* Certifications: Chartered member of IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent qualification would be an advantage.
* Communication Skills: Ability to deliver training modules to all levels of the organisation and communicate effectively with employees at varying levels within a manufacturing organization.
* Negotiation and Influencing Skills: Strong influencing and negotiation skills to drive health and safety improvements across the organization.
