Responsibilities
1. Lead various projects from a mechanical design perspective and be part of a multidisciplinary team developing solutions for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems including cameras, ECUs, and domain controllers.
2. Represent R&D on project, customer, and supplier interactions.
3. Interface across a multidisciplinary environment in a clear and effective manner.
4. Provide technical direction and coaching/mentoring of junior engineers on the team and in the department.
5. Provide support and input to other tasks within the function as deemed necessary by management and senior management.
6. Responsible for prioritizing work daily, weekly, and at a project level for all mechanical contributors working on the project(s) assigned.
7. Responsible for identifying and escalating resource needs across their project(s) not limited to deficiencies, training needs, performance, and inputting to (but not responsible for) appraisals as needed.
8. Lead and give direction on project-related technical activities including product validation/testing, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, dimensional and design optimizations.
9. Manage project documentation in the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) database.
10. Support technical architecture and standards assignments.
Education/Training
1. Relevant Mechanical Engineering Qualifications (Degree).
Professional Experience
Mandatory:
1. 5+ years experience in Mechanical Design.
2. Experience in developing products for high volume manufacturing.
3. Tooling and moulding experience - ability to identify and suggest part improvements.
4. Experience with engineering tools such as DOE and SPC.
5. Problem-solving techniques and methodical approaches to the same.
6. Experience in developing 2D drawings and 3D designing using 3D CAD.
7. Self-starter, motivated individual who can work well alone or as part of a design team.
8. The person must be able to demonstrate a high level of commitment, initiative, and quality of workmanship required within the R&D environment.
9. High level of enthusiasm and motivation, and the ability to take input from others are desirable.
10. Good communicator and fluent in English, both in writing and speaking.
11. Previous experience in a senior/lead engineer role or managing a professional team.
12. Experience in an automotive environment.
13. Experience with vision products, automotive electronics.
14. Tolerance investigations and stack-up analysis experience.
15. Detailed Drawings and Drawing Control including GD+T.
