I am looking for x4 DevOps engineers to work on a contract that will be hybrid and based in Dublin City Centre. This will initially be for 6 months with high probability to be rolling onwards. This role is in the banking space and ideally, you will have experience of working on financial projects.
Responsibilities:
* As a member of the platform development team, you will be creating new automated processes and tools with the DevOps team and using your experience working on development teams to ensure the clients' requirements are met and they have a clear migration path to the new infrastructure.
* Supporting application development teams via enablement squads to ensure the platform is fit for purpose and developing pipelines that streamline application delivery within the bank.
* Working with our Architecture and Design teams ensuring all our services are compliant with the bank policy and leverage the most from the tooling the team is deploying.
You will be a strong, technical & proactive engineer who will be responsible for:
* Working with DevOps to deliver key technical solutions to the bank in a way that is easily consumable by our development teams.
* Having an excellent understanding of the environments currently in use by the development teams and providing support to them in their day-to-day usage.
* Understanding Infrastructure as Code principles (IaC) and being comfortable developing code to deliver working products (environment + applications + configuration) for the bank.
* Using this understanding to continually improve our Infrastructure as Code components (Terraform / Ansible) and ensure thorough testing.
* Working closely with Security and IT Architects to ensure all solutions are compliant with bank policy and are properly introduced to the bank.
* Understanding & influencing how development teams are building and testing their software. Taking best practice guidelines and helping them move to newer solutions that the DevOps COE is delivering.
Skills and Experience:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in either a software development role with some exposure to releasing applications into a production environment or an operational-facing role where you've had to deploy and support production-type workloads.
* Demonstrate good critical thinking skills and be able to work with evolving requirements as projects discover their exact needs.
* Good communication skills and comfortable with Email, Skype & MS Teams.
* Experience using the Atlassian tool stack - Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket.
If you've done software development, we would look for:
* Good skills in one of the main scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, and their test frameworks.
* Strong development background in languages such as Java, Golang, C, C#, and a good understanding of their test frameworks.
* You have developed applications that have involved the delivery and consumption of APIs.
* Exposure to one or more cloud providers (AWS / Azure / GCP) and you're comfortable with how to provision infrastructure using the portal UI.
* You're aware of tools like Ansible / Puppet / Chef and what they do, and it would be great if you had some hands-on experience.
* You've seen Terraform code and would be comfortable in how it is executed and debugged.
* Exposure to Docker and orchestration environments such as Kubernetes / OpenShift.
If you've been more involved in the operational side of things, we like to see something like the following:
* In-depth experience of one or more of the cloud providers (AWS / Azure / GCP) and can automate infrastructure using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation, ARM Templates, etc. Certifications are nice, but hands-on experience is preferable.
* A thorough understanding of how infrastructure is managed and provisioned in virtualized environments such as VMWare.
* You've used configuration management tools like Ansible / Puppet / Chef in anger.
* In-depth experience of configuration management orchestration tools such as Ansible Tower / Chef Server.
* Thorough understanding of SSL & Cryptography and solutions to automation and management of SSL Certificates for applications.
* An appreciation for a test-first software development approach and a desire to ensure there's no surprises at deployment time.
Please keep in mind we are not expecting engineers to have all of this experience; this role is open to a variety of DevOps engineers.
If this isn't exactly what you're looking for, please apply and we will happily discuss what you are looking for in your next position.
