Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
1. To work within the framework of the overall objective of Focus Ireland and the values of the agency.
2. To work on a relief basis as part of a team within the framework of the policies and procedures in place for the project or as directed by the project leader, assistant project leader, or section manager.
3. To work in close liaison and co-operation with other teams within Focus Ireland and other statutory and voluntary agencies as deemed appropriate.
4. To record and maintain records on a relief basis in relation to the project and individual clients in accordance with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation.
5. To attend and participate in team, review, and agency meetings as required.
6. To assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland.
7. To work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects.
8. To undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned to you from time to time in consultation with the Project Leader.
9. To observe all Health, Safety, and Welfare at Work regulations and notify management of any risks or concerns you may have in relation to same.
Essential Requirements:
1. A relevant Third Level qualification at degree level, i.e., social care, psychology, sociology.
2. Proven direct work experience in relief/part-time work in a social care setting.
3. Experience of supporting marginalised clients/groups.
4. A working knowledge and insight into the social issues (e.g., substance abuse) that affect people who have or are experiencing homelessness.
5. Ability to manage and support clients in crisis who present with challenging behaviours based on the values and principles of best practice in Focus Ireland.
Skills and Competencies:
1. Working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection.
2. Experience of key working, assessments, and care planning.
3. Excellent report writing and IT skills.
4. Ability to work well in a team environment.
5. Reliability and flexibility.
6. A working knowledge and understanding of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention model.
