Job: Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM1)
Location: Nenagh, Co Tipperary
Contract Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
Contract Type: Full Time Permanent
Overall Purpose of the Post: The CNM1 will be responsible for leading the effective development and delivery of the day service using a person centred approach and in line with New Directions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• The CNM1 will need to provide strong leadership in clinical practice and act as a resource and role model for clinical practice.
• The CNM1 will practice nursing according to Professional Clinical Guidelines National and Area Health Service Executive (HSE guidelines), local policies, protocols, guidelines and current legislation.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of service owner care.
• Ensure the delivery of appropriate and effective service to each service owner as agreed.
• Ensure that the highest standard of service owner care is maintained.
• Contribute to the development of strategies for the implementation of new directions and development of support services to meet the identified and emerging needs of the service owners.
• Be responsible for the local budget and actively manage local resources.
• Coordinate staff and ensure that duties, activities and programmes allocated to staff are carried out efficiently.
• Demonstrate effective change management skills.
• Liaise closely with the HSE Midwest Region, community nursing and therapy staff and other key organisations in the course of ensuring the delivery of a person-centred service to each Owner
• Planning, developing and implementation of service including: o Criteria for accessing services o Assessment & individual service planning process o Person centred planning approach in partnership with service owners o Advocacy development on group and individual basis o Access to mainstream /community-based opportunities
• To maintain and promote current best practice in the disability sector.
• To ensure that services are appropriately planned, delivered and evaluated to ensure that operational policies, procedures and protocols are in effective operation.
• To conduct and implement audit/service quality monitoring systems.
• Produce service plans and service development proposals.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of information systems.
• Manage the responsibility for risk management health and safety issues within the Day Service.
• Develop and deliver training to staff and service owners when required
• Collaborate with service owners, family, carers and staff in the development of care plans and risk assessments for each service owner.
• Implement staff Personal Development Planning, Supervision and Individual Performance Management & Review for staff.
• To co-ordinate student placements, including recruitment and screening and ensuring appropriate placement and supervision.
• To ensure the appropriate recruitment, screening deployment and supervision of volunteers.
• To ensure effective communication between staff, the rest of the service and with service owners, parents and carers and other appropriate bodies.
• Plan, organise and deliver staff training in relevant areas as required.
• Actively participate in the setting of team and organisational goals.
• To carry out vaccination of both service owners/users and staff as required.
• Operate and participate in on call roster for weekend service
Salary: The current salary scale for this post is €49,763 - €59,008 pro rata per annum.
