About the Role:
The AWS Environmental team is an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products.
The Environmental team has responsibility for developing and implementing AWS's global environmental programs.
We are seeking an Environmental Engineer to support AWS environmental compliance in Ireland.
Responsibilities:
* Assess and support compliance with local and national environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and Amazon policy.
* Play a key role in regional environmental programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operation teams - drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization while maintaining environmental management processes and external accreditation.
* Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards.
* Develop, analyze, and present environmental metrics, horizon scan for risk and effectively communicate insights to internal stakeholders.
* Submit time critical environmental reports to various governmental agencies.
* Complete thorough environmental investigations and associated regulatory reporting including working with operations/necessary stakeholders to develop and implement appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering/science, geology, geography, biology, chemistry or related field of study.
* 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, environmental consultant, environmental manager, program specialist, or program manager.
* Experience in environmental compliance, environmental auditing, environmental permitting/reporting, waste management, environmental management systems and ISO14001 standards.
* Broad knowledge of Irish environmental regulations and licensing requirements.
* Project management skills with proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite of applications.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with senior leaders inside and outside the company.
* Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
* Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in implementing practical improvements.
* Self-starter who consistently identifies improvement opportunities and applies new knowledge to enhance environmental performance.
