Senior Physiotherapist – Disability Unit
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our team at the Disability Unit in Clonmel. This role will involve providing specialist physiotherapy services to individuals with a range of disabilities, supporting their physical rehabilitation, mobility, and quality of life. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized, evidence-based care and promote the holistic well-being of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assessment & Treatment:
o Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients with varying degrees of physical, developmental, and neurological disabilities.
o Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
o Use a range of therapeutic techniques, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and mobility aids.
2. Rehabilitation & Management:
o Lead physiotherapy interventions aimed at improving mobility, functional independence, and overall quality of life.
o Support clients with chronic disability conditions, including spasticity management, posture and positioning, and pain management.
o Monitor, evaluate, and review client progress regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
o Work closely with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, doctors, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
o Participate in case conferences, care planning meetings, and family liaison activities.
o Provide advice and training to healthcare staff, carers, and families to ensure the continuation of care outside of therapy sessions.
4. Supervision & Leadership:
o Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students.
o Act as a lead physiotherapist within the unit, offering guidance and support to the physiotherapy team.
o Participate in and contribute to service development, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
5. Documentation & Reporting:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
o Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional standards in all documentation.
o Prepare reports and contribute to service audits and reviews.
6. Health Promotion & Education:
o Promote health, well-being, and preventative care strategies among clients, their families, and caregivers.
o Deliver education sessions and training on physiotherapy techniques, self-management, and disability support.
Essential Criteria:
1. Qualifications:
o BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council).
o CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
o 3+ years’ experience as a registered Physiotherapist.
2. Skills:
o Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
o Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
o Proficiency in using physiotherapy software and electronic health records.
