StoryToys is a Top-Ten children’s app creator, delivering a suite of apps for children between the ages of 2 and 8. We work with the world’s biggest entertainment IP (Intellectual Property), translating their loved characters to a digital world. We publish worldwide, in 26 languages with monthly active users in the millions. We are based in Dublin, Ireland but work with a large global team.
About The Role
As StoryToys expands its portfolio of experiences to include family games and experiences for kids 7 and older, as a Producer you will play a crucial role in driving the development and success of our apps, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and deliver exceptional value to our audience. You will create engaging and fun experiences for kids and families. You will drive all aspects of creative product development and release, in adherence to defined brand guidelines, with sensitivity to partner brand bibles and IP specifications, and in alignment with strategic and commercial goals.
What You’ll Do
Product Vision and Strategy:
1. Develop a clear and compelling vision for company products, aligning with the company's overall mission and objectives and in close collaboration with product and/or prototype teams.
2. Formulate a product strategy that balances creativity, entertainment, and educational value to cater to the needs of our young audience.
3. Research, evaluate and engage third party developers with the requisite technology, skills, and track record to deliver compelling interactive experiences.
4. Create and maintain a detailed product roadmap outlining the short-term and long-term development goals. Work closely with the Chief Product Officer to regularly review and adjust the roadmap based on changing market conditions, user feedback, and business priorities. Have a keen understanding of the product dependencies and constraints.
Requirements Gathering:
1. Conduct thorough market research and gather insights from target users, parents, and educators to identify trends, preferences, and pain points. Use this information to define and prioritize app features and improvements. Ensure the game design aligns with industry trends, platform requirements, and kid-safe compliance standards.
2. Translate high-level product concepts into clear and concise user stories, complete with detailed acceptance criteria. Collaborate closely with the development team during the sprint planning and refining sessions to ensure a shared understanding of requirements.
3. Lead creative sessions through brainstorming and ideas refinement to define gameplay mechanics and visual aspects of characters and environments.
4. Analyze user feedback, app performance metrics, and reviews to identify areas for improvement. Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions and enhance the app's overall user experience.
5. Plan and conduct user testing sessions to gather feedback and validate app features and improvements. Use insights from user testing to refine product requirements and enhance the overall user experience.
Product Delivery:
1. Ensure we launch the right product at the right time. Work closely with all parties to coordinate the release process, ensuring that new app features and updates are launched on time and meet the required quality standards.
2. Collaborate with developers to craft comprehensive project plans, define core objectives, address risks, and establish critical milestones.
3. Provide accurate and timely project status updates to leadership and external stakeholders.
4. Ensure our third-party development partners have the right information, inspiration and leadership to deliver the requisite quality on time and on budget.
5. Partner with the internal build, QA and release teams to ensure smooth delivery of titles.
6. Oversee live operations and post launch support. Provide updates, content expansions, and community engagement strategies.
Stakeholder Management:
1. Persuade, engage, and motivate the entire team (internal and external alike) to rally around a product vision, guiding all creative sessions.
2. Present and get alignment internally with other functions (commercial, finance, production) on the product direction and individual releases.
3. Collaborate with external partners, content providers, and other third parties to enhance our app offerings and create valuable partnerships. Manage communication and relationships with partners to ensure successful collaboration and timely integration of new content.
4. Act as the key liaison between internal teams, licensors, platforms and external partners, providing clear updates and risk assessments.
Budgeting Responsibility:
1. Manage the product development budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to meet project objectives. Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer, and finance team to track expenses and make data-driven decisions to optimize budget utilization.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation:
1. Stay up to date with industry regulations and guidelines concerning children's apps, ensuring that our products comply with all relevant laws and standards.
2. Use experience and foresight to determine and mitigate risks and communicate with stakeholders, outlining possible impacts.
What You’ll Need:
1. Proven experience, with 5+ years as a Producer or in a related role within the mobile app development industry, with a focus on children's or teen’s apps and/or branded IP being a plus.
2. Some familiarity with child development, learning principles, and user behavior in the context of children's apps.
3. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external parties.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven and customer-centric approach to decision-making.
5. Passion for creating high-quality, educational, and entertaining experiences for children and families.
6. Familiarity with agile methodologies and project management tools.
7. Knowledge of app store guidelines and regulations related to children's apps is desirable.
