THE ROLE
We strive to be retailers' first choice when they are deciding on category advisors leveraging our leading portfolio of beverage, snack, alcohol and health & beauty brands. As a Category Analyst, you must be able to recognize customer needs, be empathetic to challenges but also be a bold thought leader, putting the shopper and consumer at the heart of everything we do.
The role is also critical to internal business intelligence, and the successful candidate will be able to blend commercial, brand and category viewpoints to provide long-term strategic recommendations for growth.
The Category Analyst is a highly cross-functional position and will need to collaborate heavily with internal teams, retailers, agencies, and brand principles. The key objective is realizing insight-led opportunities that will grow category and brand sales and enhance market share in a sustainable way.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
1. Understanding of macro environment, retailer and shopper trends and recommending appropriate tactics.
2. Develop customer Category plans that integrate with the customers' overall business goals.
3. Deliver planogram proposals centred on objective insights seeking fair share of space, enhanced SKU mix, shelf position and segmentation.
4. Utilise insights to help field sales win in the Off and On Premise.
5. Turn insights into actions within retailers by executing, analysing and evaluating category plans & data.
6. Develop category leadership concepts that help retailers envision the art of possibility.
7. Monitor implementation and review recommendations seeking continuous opportunities for growth.
8. Price, Promotion, Mix, NPD and Distribution analysis focusing on opportunities to grow.
9. Maintain monthly/quarterly performance reports and present to brand principles & internal stakeholders.
10. Database maintenance, report automation and ensure our visual insight impact is always enhanced.
11. Coaching and development of Richmond Colleagues – upskilling of insight.
ABOUT YOU
1. Minimum 2 years work experience preferably in consumer goods industry.
2. Excellent analytical skills to turn data into insight and insight into impactful stories.
3. A curious mind that seeks the 'why' behind the 'what'.
4. A strong collaborator and communicator.
5. Proactive and motivated to always seek improvements.
6. Knowledge and familiarity with Nielsen/Circana Data and/or Dunnhumby, Symphony or Shopper Intelligence.
7. Understanding of the importance of product mix, promotion and pricing.
8. Understanding of Data attributions and Visualisation.
9. Familiar with Planograms and the role of space/range management.
10. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel & PowerPoint.
