The Opportunity We are seeking to appoint a Director of Operations to join the team at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa. Reporting into the General Manager you will be responsible for the management and leadership of the entire Operation within the Resort. Criteria: Managing Profitability Clearly communicates key drivers of guest satisfaction. Identifies service trends through data analysis and proactively addresses operational issues. Makes informed decisions that drive the property toward strategic and financial goals. Collaborates with the hotel leadership team to develop and execute an operational strategy aligned with our overarching business objectives. Managing Revenue Goals Monitors sales and operational performance against established budgets. Analyses financial reports and statements to evaluate hotel performance and identify opportunities for improvement. Provides coaching and strategic guidance to the operations team to pricing, wage management, and controllable expenses. Reviews Wage Progress Reports, identifies variances, and mentors team leaders to address gaps, ensuring accountability for financial results. Leading Operations and Department Teams Champions our service vision and ensures alignment across all hotel departments. Develops tools and systems that enable team members to understand and act on guest satisfaction insights. Delivers consistent, goal-oriented communication to department heads to drive performance and results. Managing the Guest Experience Analyses guest feedback with the leadership team and ensures timely and effective corrective actions are implemented. Personally, addresses guest concerns and complaints to maintain high levels of satisfaction. Maintains a strong on-property presence to engage with guests, gather feedback, and assess service quality. Fosters a welcoming and service-oriented atmosphere across Rooms and Food & Beverage outlets, exceeding guest expectations. Team Development Facilitates innovative problem-solving to overcome service challenges and enhance guest satisfaction. Promotes a fair, respectful, and inclusive work environment. Ensures consistent, meaningful communication across teams through daily briefings and regular meetings. Leads by example, modelling exceptional service standards and reinforcing team engagement during daily operations. Integrates guest satisfaction into team discussions, encouraging continuous improvement and innovation. Sets clear goals and expectations for direct reports through the performance management process and holds teams accountable for results. Actively seeks employee feedback, fosters open communication, and addresses concerns based on employee engagement data. Ensures fair implementation of company policies, accurate documentation of disciplinary actions, and adherence to SOPs. Acts as a change leader by promoting and implementing innovative strategies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and guiding teams through transitions to achieve organizational goals. The successful candidate will have: A minimum 2 years experience within an Operations Manager or Hotel Manager role with full management responsibility of multi disciplines. A minimum of 2 years experience, leading a large and dynamic Senior Head of Department team. A proven ability to be a dynamic, innovative, passionate and resilient, modern day commercially focused leader. Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, revenue forecasts, cost control and profit delivery across multiple disciplines. Previous experience of leading a management team through a period of change. Excellent organisational and time management skills. Previous complex Employee Relations experience. Conflict management solution skills. Excellent communication and IT skills. Problem Solving Aptitude. Strong interpersonal skills.
