Role Overview The Participation and Programmes Coordinator will play a key role in leading and delivering national participation and retention-focused programmes within the child and youth stages of the GAA Player Pathway.
Reporting to the National Participation and Programmes Lead, this role will take responsibility for the strategic development, coordination, and implementation of key initiatives, including GAA Cl Camps, Nursery Programme, Gaelic Time (Primary Schools Programme), Go Games, and the development and implementation of modified game formats at the youth stage.
The role will focus on ensuring high-quality programme delivery, increasing participation, and supporting the transition of children through the player pathway.
Principle Accountabilities: Programme Leadership and Delivery Cl Camps and Camp Programme Support the planning, organisation, and execution of GAA Cl Camps, including coordinating with counties to ensure appropriate venues, coach recruitment, and quality programme delivery.
Assist the logistics of Cl Camps, including overseeing the supply and distribution of camp gear and equipment, and ensuring operational efficiency.
Develop and enhance the Cl Camps e-learning platform and coach training resources to ensure all camp leaders and volunteers are equipped to deliver a high-quality experience.
Oversee and promote the delivery of additional camp programmes ensuring policy compliance Lead the growth and promotion of specific Inclusive Camps Coordinate the delivery of a high-quality customer service support GAA Nursery Programme Oversee the development, promotion and expansion of the Nursery Programme, ensuring it provides a structured and engaging introduction to Gaelic Games for young children and their coaches.
Primary Schools Lead the strategic delivery of Gaelic Time (GAA Primary Schools Programme), supporting teacher engagement and ensuring Gaelic Games are accessible in primary schools nationwide and aligned with the Primary PE Curriculum.
Lead the overall promotion if Gaelic Games in Primary Schools and have responsibility for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on activity in schools around the country.
Go Games and Modified Formats Lead and oversee the implementation and expansion of Go Games at club and school levels.
Oversee the development and implementation of Go Games policies and guidelines to ensure consistency and best practice nationwide.
Ensure that Go Games principles, such as maximum participation, development over competition, and fun-based learning, are embedded into all relevant activities.
Coordinate Go Games Activity Days in Croke Park.
Devise and implement modified game formats for Go Games and youth players, ensuring smooth transition from child to youth stages while promoting participation and retention.
Oversee the implementation of innovative participation initiatives to expand Gaelic Games accessibility across clubs, schools, and communities.
Stakeholder Engagement and Support Liaise with Provincial and County personnel, clubs, and schools to support programme growth and sustainability.
Lead engagement with Cumann na mBunscol and other relevant bodies to enhance Gaelic Games participation at the primary school level.
Work closely with the National Coach Development Team Work to provide training, resources, and support for coaches, teachers and staff working in clubs and schools in delivering high-quality coaching experiences.
Work collaboratively with the LGFA and Camogie, GAA Handball and Rounders to ensure an inclusive and unified approach to participation growth.
Engage with clubs and counties to promote the adoption of modified game formats at child and youth level.
Programme Development & Monitoring Develop, trial, and assess modified game formats, ensuring they support long-term player development and retention.
Track and analyse participation data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement.
Take ownership of participation-related projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the GAAs broader coaching and development strategy.
Provide reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and national committees.
Requirements A passion for Gaelic Games and grassroots participation.
Relevant qualification or experience in sports development, education, or a related field.
Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Experience in delivery of participation and retention programmes in the GAA or other relevant organisations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools for data management and reporting.
Knowledge of the GAAs Coaching & Games Development structures is desirable.
Additional Information This role may require travel across different counties, with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
