Civils & Utilities Main Contractor
Our client is a leading Civil Engineering Main Contractor working on a number of framework contracts for Civils & Utilities Projects and is recruiting a Project Manager (Civils) for Projects in Cork.
Summary
The Project Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating construction activities on-site, focusing on efficiency, safety, and adherence to established standards and schedules to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
1. Review project plans and requirements and produce a detailed baseline programme on Microsoft Project.
2. Track programme on a regular basis and issue updates to the client.
3. Identify critical path delays when they occur and demonstrate on programme. Negotiate extensions of time where required with the client.
4. Review project pricing and track internal costs to ensure the project is being delivered as priced and can be completed within the required budget.
5. Identify areas where the project is losing money, identify root causes, and develop strategies to mitigate this. Communicate commercial issues and proposed solutions to the Contracts Manager.
6. Understand what is included in the project contract/price and identify project variations where they occur. Negotiate additional costs where required with the client.
7. Review contract documentation and communicate required notices to the client within specified timeframes.
8. Line manager for Site Agent, Project Engineer, and QS. Responsible for all workers on site through Site Agent.
9. Review and approve monthly progress claims.
10. Review and approve Risk Assessment Method Statements and other pre-construction HS documentation.
11. Carry out regular HS and quality audits.
12. Identify design issues and communicate these to the client along with proposed solutions.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience as a Project Manager in civil engineering or construction projects, with utilities experience and working within the road corridor preferred.
2. Excellent computer skills with detailed knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
3. Full driver's licence.
4. Background in civil engineering preferred.
