The Job Details are as follows:
Responsible for complex data analysis, evaluation, modification, and maintenance of data throughout its life cycle following appropriate standards and policies. Works closely with external data providers and publishers on data import and data quality. Communicates with various internal and external stakeholders and members to resolve data issues.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs hands-on data research on bibliographic and system log data; generates specifications for development teams; investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves data quality issues.
2. Works with member libraries and providers/vendors to ingest new data or solve member quality issues.
3. Develops dynamic, scalable, and effective dashboards including related KPIs/ metrics for visual analysis.
4. Analyzes existing dashboards and creates new dashboards using performance tuning,
5. Works with colleagues to identify opportunities for process improvements and can lead their implementation.
6. Creates input for data science and machine learning projects.
7. Collaborates with team members and communicates relevant information to leadership.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
8. Master's degree in computer science, math, statistics, or related field with seven years of appropriate experience; OR, ten years’ experience with data analysis or creation of library data.
9. Strong analytical and communication skills, with high attention to data quality; enjoys solving data problems while working independently.
10. Experience with query languages or computer programing languages (e.g. SQL, R, Python, XSLT, Perl, shell, etc.).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
11. Advanced experience with library data and library standards (e.g., MARC, KBART, COUNTER, BIBFRAME, etc.).
12. Experience with secure data transfers (e.g. FTP, s-FTP, OAI-PMH, HTTPS, Amazon S3, external media, etc.).
13. Advanced experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, etc.) and data visualization best practices.
14. Experience with data stores (e.g. Snowflake, etc.).
15. Passion for data quality and streamlined processes.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment.
