Senior Actuary, Reinsurance

We are looking to recruit a senior actuary to join a team of experienced actuaries to lead the regulatory reporting and submissions for the Reinsurance Business Group at AXA XL.

What will your essential responsibilities include?
1. Reporting to the Reinsurance Chief Actuary and responsible for annual actuarial reserving reports and regulatory submissions.
2. Support the analysis needed for the statutory certification of reserves.
3. Peer reviewing assumptions and projections from a legal entity perspective.
4. Leading and being responsible for producing the analytics, exhibits and reports for the regulatory deliverables, with the support of the wider team.
5. Developing quarterly reserve slide packs for presenting to legal entity reserve committees of Reinsurance.
6. Leading or contributing to ad-hoc profitability reviews, business planning, financial reporting, and any special projects.
7. Building effective relationships with key stakeholders / business partners in finance and capital and reserving actuaries.
8. Supporting strategic actuarial initiatives by providing in-depth timely, insightful, relevant, and reliable business intelligence.
9. Working directly with actuarial corporate and financial reporting teams around the globe.
10. Staying abreast of current trends and changes in the functional areas that may impact the actuarial analysis.
You will report to Reinsurance Chief Actuary.

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
11. Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent with significant post qualification experience.
12. Substantial reserving experience and a desire to work closely alongside other professions
13. Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Applied Math, Statistics, or related field.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with internal and external clients who have varying levels of actuarial knowledge.
15. Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks.
16. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work well within our collaborative team environment.
17. Outstanding analytical and research skills with exposure to a variety of business productivity software.
18. Outstanding Excel and Microsoft Office skills for data extraction, manuipulation, reporting, documentation, and presentations.
19. Exposure to VBA, SQL, or other business intelligence tools.
20. Exposure to reserving methods and tools to structure, access, and manage data sets for modeling and managing risk.
21. Preferred experience with ResQ, the industry-leading loss reserving system, or similar actuarial modelling software used for reserving, ratemaking, pricing, modelling, or data analysis.
22. Ability to hit the ground running yet comfortable asking questions to develop business knowledge and effective solutions.
