The Toolmaker Apprenticeship is governed by SOLAS. During your apprenticeship, you will be required to follow a course of training and undergo a series of assessments to confirm that you have reached the required standard.
The apprenticeship consists of 7 phases; 4 phases on-the-job: learning by doing and 3 phases off-the-job: training.
The apprentice will gain extensive experience working closely with our highly skilled and experienced toolmaking team on site, learning to maintain and troubleshoot high precision tools used in the manufacture of injection moulded (plastic) products for medical devices.
1. Support qualified tool makers in performing precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
2. Operating milling machinery, lathes and using hand tools and other equipment.
3. Keep records up to date on computer system.
4. Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives in line with work instructions, procedures and policies.
5. Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP in all practices, recording of events and processes (full training provided).
6. Ensure compliance with all learnings from all GMP training events.
7. Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Skills/Attributes:
* Good manual dexterity
* Good attention to detail
* Show a positive attitude to learning new skills
* A basic level in computer literacy
* Ideally some experience in metal work
* Must work well as part of a team
