Job Title: Fire Prevention Officer
About the Role
This role is responsible for providing risk management advice to protect staff, public, and patients in medical-related facilities. You will work to ensure compliance with legal and statutory obligations related to fire health & safety prevention.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise on equipment suitability to reduce risks within the organisation.
* Report on areas of fire and infrastructural risk where action is required.
* Investigate accidents and provide reports as necessary.
* Monitor and report on health and safety performance of external contractors.
* Assist in setting up and amending emergency plans.
* Conduct regular inspections of buildings and fire-fighting equipment.
* Review and draw up fire orders, including evacuation schemes.
* Inspect places, premises, and equipment that present a special risk of fire.
* Instruct staff on fire hazards and evacuation procedures.
* Arrange regular fire drills and ensure they are properly carried out.
* Monitor water supply and report any deficiencies.
* Ensure hydrants are clearly identified.
* Advise on interpretation of fire protection standards and building regulations.
* Monitor means of escape and keep records of inspections and fires.
Requirements
* HETAC level 7 qualification in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, Health and Safety or Building Services/Building Surveying.
* At least two years' experience in a comparable fire and safety role.
* Demonstrate pro-active commitment to communications and develop good working relationships.
Working Conditions
Standard working hours are 35 weekly, Monday to Friday (business hours).
Salary and Benefits
The salary range is €52,000 - €58,000 with annual increments thereafter.
