Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Payroll Manager to join our payroll team in a busy shared services environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive payroll administration experience, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing complex payroll operations. This role requires a deep understanding of payroll systems, compliance, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Service Management:
o Oversee client service plans, ensuring the delivery of exceptional payroll services.
o Regularly review services and monitor key performance indicators to meet client requirements.
2. Client Relationships:
o Serve as a point of contact for client issues, managing the escalation process effectively.
o Demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for delivering the highest level of service to clients.
o Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing clients, ensuring their ongoing satisfaction.
3. New Client Onboarding:
o Manage the onboarding process for new clients in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.
o Ensure client expectations are met, and resources are allocated appropriately.
4. Payroll Team/People Development:
o Manage the payroll team’s portfolio, ensuring effective payroll operations.
o Manage and develop team members to enhance their skills and performance. Motivate a diverse team of payroll professionals to achieve high performance.
o Monitor strategic goals and objectives set for the payroll department.
o Assist with technical, legislative, and systems-related queries.
5. Collaboration:
o Liaise with our Internal Tax team to enhance team knowledge and ensure clients benefit from specialist tax expertise.
o Support process enhancement projects and work with team members and IT support to improve the service capability of the team.
6. Contingency Support:
o Occasionally perform payroll runs on a test basis or act as a contingency resource during staff absences.
7. Technical/Compliance Expertise:
o Contribute to a strong compliance culture by ensuring robust internal controls and audit standards are achieved and maintained.
o Stay updated with payroll and data protection regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
o Maintain up-to-date processing skills by acting as a support processor when necessary.
o Continuously improve payroll procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Minimum of 5 years relevant (Irish Payroll) processing experience in a high-volume environment.
* Proven experience in managing a busy payroll team.
* Tax Qualification or payroll certification (IPASS or equivalent).
* Strong MS Office and MS Excel skills.
* Familiarity with payroll systems such as Megapay, Sage Micropay, IRIS, and Brain.
* Strong knowledge of relevant Irish and UK tax legislation.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
* Ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and achieve results through others.
* Capacity to proactively and constructively contribute to team tasks.
* Ability to manage priorities and meet strict deadlines.
* Strong technical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to challenges.
