Overview
We're National Broadband Ireland and we're delivering the largest telecommunications project that Ireland has ever seen. We're designing, building and operating Ireland's new, high-speed wholesale broadband network under the National Broadband Plan. Our aim is to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.
The NBI network using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment will deliver high-speed broadband to over 1.1 million people and over 569,000 premises in Ireland. No matter how remote or rural, no town, village or community will be left behind. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for the next 25 years.
Key Objectives / Accountabilities:
NBI are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Cyber Security Graduate or Information Technology Graduate with a strong Cyber Security component, to join our team. As a recent graduate, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding NBI's digital assets, identifying vulnerabilities, implementing security measures and assisting the ICT Team to monitor all Cyber Security tools and dashboards and taking the appropriate actions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and hands-on experience in the dynamic field of cybersecurity.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Risk and Compliance Manager and ICT Delivery Manager and other SMEs to assess and enhance our organization's security posture.
2. Monitor our various security tools and network traffic, logs, and security alerts to detect and respond to potential threats.
3. Conduct vulnerability assessments and recommend remediations where possible as well as assist in implementing such remediations.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and best practices.
5. Stay informed about emerging threats, industry trends, and security technologies.
6. Participate in incident response activities, including analysing and mitigating security incidents.
7. Support the deployment and maintenance of security tools and technologies.
Knowledge & Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and security principles.
3. Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus software.
4. Proficiency in analysing logs and network data to identify anomalies.
5. Knowledge of encryption, authentication, and access control mechanisms.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Proficiency in the use of MS-Defender and Purview are a major plus.
8. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP) are a plus.
9. Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
