The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) - General Adult Liaison post holder will deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.
Caseload The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) - General Adult Liaison — will focus on adults and persons
1) Over 18 years of age who are under the 65 referred to the service for assessment
2) Known to the service and are experiencing a mental illness.
Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) - General Adult Liaison will:
· Be a source of information and support for patients and their families.
· Provide advice and support to health professionals regarding appropriate interventions for patients who are experiencing mental health difficulties
· Liaise closely with clinical management teams across the Adult Mental Health Services, Cork.
· Work closely with voluntary and statutory agencies.
· Participate in the development and maintenance of psychiatric databases, research and clinical audit.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) - General Adult Liaison will play a key role in the Adult Mental Health Service, Cork.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Mental Health) - General Adult Liaison will:
· Provide consultation and care in emergency departments and ward settings in the centres under their remit.
· Undertake assessments of patients referred to the Adult Mental Health Service, Cork and undertake appropriate clinical interventions as well as providing support and advice to the patient and significant others.
· Be responsible for ensuring that patients have access to the most appropriate available services and are supported throughout this process and will handover on follow up and on admitted patients.
