Quantity Surveyor & Estimator (Experienced in Structural Steel)
A new & exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced QS & Estimator to join us and work on several large, high profile projects nationwide.
The suitable applicant will be responsible for the following:
1. Preparation of tender documentation, measurement, estimation and submission of same.
2. Full cost control of contracts, liaising with team members.
3. Prepare and submit monthly valuations and final account agreements.
4. Producing weekly/monthly cost value reports for Management.
5. Attendance of all relevant site design team meetings, site safety meetings, office meetings and cost review meetings.
6. Value Engineering/Value Management of projects.
7. Continuous review of cash flow to ensure optimum levels are maintained.
8. Implementation of new estimating and cost recording methods.
9. Prepare and issue subcontract documentation including the Letter of Award and company H&S Pack.
10. Collate and value weekly labour allocation sheets using agreed rates.
11. Ensure weekly Plant Records (Internal and/or Ext Hired) are completed by site.
12. Collate and value Plant Record Sheets using agreed rates.
13. Regularly review the plant programme with the Site Co-ordinator and update if required.
14. Prepare monthly subcontracts liabilities / accruals at each month end.
15. Ensure timely completion of the monthly contract cost report, identify problem areas and trends, report on any monthly movements and substantiate gains / deficits on each activity code.
16. Analyse returned subcontract quotes and establish best VFM.
17. Explore and promote areas where opportunities may exist to the Operations Manager.
18. Issue Subcontract Payment Notifications as and when required.
19. Issue cost allowances to the Site Agent and review budgets for work being undertaken.
20. Ensure that Subcontract Pre-Appointments are being completed by the sites.
21. Obtain subcontractors insurances and UTR details before work commences.
22. Review disruption authorised Variation work has had / may have on site progress and other works.
23. To introduce improvements, where appropriate and in consultation with the Operations Manager, to areas of your responsibility.
24. Follow up and negotiation of supplier enquiries & quotations.
25. Completion of tender checklists.
26. Successfully collaborate with key stakeholders to include clients / client representatives, architects, consultant engineers, site managers, supervisors, planners etc.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate:
1. High level of IT literacy, especially in Microsoft Office 365.
2. Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills with the ability to put procedures in place and follow them.
3. High level of attention to detail.
4. Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
5. Motivated team player and ability to take initiative.
6. HNC / Degree educated Quantity Surveyor / Estimator.
7. Have at least 5+ years’ experience working for a Main Contractor.
8. Ideally experience in managing structural steel projects.
9. Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
The salary for this position is commensurate with experience.
