Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team, specialising in Data Centre design and high-density cooling solutions for AI and supercomputer applications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced cooling systems that ensure optimal performance and reliability in high-density computing environments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop high-density cooling solutions for data centres and supercomputers, ensuring efficient thermal management for AI workloads. Conduct thermal analysis and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to optimize cooling system performance and airflow management. Collaborate with electrical, structural, and software engineering teams to integrate cooling solutions within data centre designs. Develop detailed design specifications, equipment selection criteria, and layout plans for cooling systems, including CRAC units, chillers, and cooling towers. Evaluate and select appropriate cooling technologies, including liquid cooling, immersion cooling, and traditional air cooling systems. Perform energy efficiency assessments and implement strategies to reduce operational costs and improve sustainability. Monitor and analyse performance metrics of cooling systems, making recommendations for improvements and upgrades as needed. Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and best practices related to mechanical engineering and cooling system design. Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, installation guides, and standard operating procedures. Collaborate with construction teams to oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of cooling systems. Key Requirements Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on data centre design and high-density cooling applications. Strong knowledge of thermal management principles, HVAC systems, and fluid dynamics. Proficiency in simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for thermal analysis and design. Familiarity with data centre infrastructure and operations, including power distribution, redundancy, and reliability principles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification. Experience with advanced cooling technologies, such as liquid cooling and immersion cooling systems. Knowledge of energy efficiency practices, sustainable design principles, and LEED certification processes.
