The Fire Prevention Section within Dublin Fire Brigade is responsible for ensuring adequate fire safety in buildings and other structures.
It is governed primarily by the Fire Services Act, 1981 and the Building Control Acts 1990 to 2014.
The Fire Services Act places a duty of care on every person having control over certain premises, to take all reasonable measures to guard against the outbreak of fire on the premises.
The Building Control Acts provide a statutory basis for the Building Regulations. The Fire Prevention Section administers and enforces the fire safety provisions of these regulations for most buildings except houses.
Job Responsibilities
* Working as part of a team within the Fire Prevention Section under the supervision of a Senior Executive Fire Prevention Officer or designated persons.
* Reporting incidents and conducting investigations to identify root causes of fires.
* Supervising and mentoring a team of Assistant Fire Prevention Officers.
Main Objectives: To ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, prevent the outbreak of fires, and protect people's lives and property.
This role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
A relevant qualification in fire safety or a related field would be advantageous, but not essential.
