Nuvo Healthcare are recruiting for a Social Care Worker for our client in County Laois. This is an exciting opportunity for the suitable candidate to provide a direct service to children in residential care. Our client has facilities for mainstream residential care, single occupancy centres, and preparation for leaving care centres. Location: Centres are located in Co. Laois. Changes in location may be directed in accordance with evolving priorities and organisational developments.
Hours of Work: This is a full-time position - up to 48 hours per week. This post entails shift work, which involves weekends/evenings/nights and holiday periods.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policy and Procedures: Follow all organisational policies and procedures while upholding the Safety Statement and Health & Safety Risk Assessments.
2. Direct Care and Support: Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
3. Create a Positive Environment: Promote a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere where the young people feel safe, respected, and valued.
4. Personal Development: Assist the young people in developing life skills, supporting their education, personal development, and social skills.
5. Behavioural Support: Implement positive behaviour management strategies and ensure consistent boundaries are in place.
6. Safeguarding: Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, ensuring the welfare and protection of all young people in your care.
7. Care Planning: Work collaboratively with the team to contribute to the development and implementation of individualized care plans.
8. Report Writing & Documentation: Keep accurate records and reports in line with regulatory requirements, providing updates on the child's progress. Reporting to Social Care Manager/ Social Care Leader/ Deputy Leader.
9. Team Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating effectively with colleagues, managers, families, and external agencies.
Other Responsibilities:
1. To carry out general housework and preparation of meals, involving the children as appropriate.
2. To ensure that petty cash is reconciled at the commencement and conclusion of every shift.
3. To keep accurate and up-to-date records and reports in respect of the individual children and the daily activities of the home.
4. To ensure that recording systems are fully completed on a daily basis and that the handover follows the correct procedure to ensure effective communication.
5. To agree on a supervision contact with your supervisor and adhere to the conditions agreed.
6. To maintain and develop a good understanding of current research and theory in order to keep abreast of ongoing developments in Social Care.
Essential Qualifications:
1. BA in Applied Social Care Work (level 7/8) or equivalent.
2. A full clean driving licence is desirable.
