Water Process Engineers
Job Description:
Multiple positions for Water Process specialists at all grades
Due to significant growth in our Water Business in Ireland and internationally, we are currently recruiting for a number of positions to join our Water Process team. These roles will support the delivery of major projects primarily internationally, but also in Ireland.
The positions available are for water process specialists with a background in water and/or wastewater process with a variety of experience: we are interested in hearing from those with senior / associate level applicants with 15+ years-experience, as well as junior to mid-career applicants with 3-15 years-experience.
The ideal candidates will be looking to further their career and gain invaluable experience within an established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in a position of responsibility.
The more senior role will take a lead role in the delivery of projects, including developing and managing relationship with clients. They will be responsible for the further development of process skills within the team and will act as final reviewer of the work of more junior engineers.
Depending on experience more junior roles will support the team in the delivery of water and wastewater design projects.
Those candidates with experience in water reuse and water efficiency technologies will have an advantage.
These are permanent positions and offer the successful candidates long-term and international opportunities. As a result of our strong digital capability and cloud-based systems and networks, it will be possible for the successful candidates to work out of their choice of any of our Irish offices.
Educational Requirement
A minimum of a Bachelor degree in a Process, Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering discipline is required for this role (equivalent to Level 8 in the Irish NFQ). A Master’s degree within these fields would be beneficial but not essential.
Skills Requirement
The candidate must possess:
1. A proven ability to work within a team environment, both internally among the greater Water team and externally within project teams and with stakeholders;
2. Experience in the design and delivery of Water and Wastewater infrastructure projects from optioneering through design to construction and commissioning stage, datacentre experience is a plus;
3. Ability to meet strict deadlines and client targets;
4. Be a member of Engineers Ireland (or equivalent membership authority) and committed to achieving chartered status; and
5. Strong analytical skills to develop effective, innovative and commercial solutions.
Duties
A process design engineer’s duties would include:
6. Preparation of detailed design reports, calculations and construction and/or performance specification packages for both Water and Wastewater treatment projects at various stages in project life cycles;
7. Undertaking technical surveys of major water and wastewater assets, including lifecycle analysis, condition assessment, energy efficiency and operational performance;
8. Liaison with relevant statutory agencies including the EPA, Department of Housing, Irish Water, local City and County Councils as well as third party contractors and stakeholders;
9. Developing enduring design solutions in accordance with relevant standards and client requirements whilst ensuring technical excellence, throughout the options development, concept design and detailed design phases for wastewater treatment systems and municipal sewage systems;
10. Assessing design hazards and producing a design risk assessment in the context of the Health & Safety (Construction) Regulations and process risk reduction for operations;
11. Producing design calculations, process drawings and costs estimates using specialist advanced water and wastewater treatment design software packages;
12. Providing technical input and advice to clients in relation to water and wastewater process infrastructure and operations;
13. Reporting and monitoring of progress within projects to the company’s senior staff as well as external clients and contractors;
14. Liaising with clients including presentation of design reports for review and discussion;
15. Assisting more experienced members of staff with, the analysis of information, production of designs, modelling and computations;
Assist in the preparation of specifications, proposals and other documentation under supervision;
Undertake quality assurance of survey and asset data sets and maintenance of records accordingly.
