KERRY PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION is a voluntary organisation committed to the delivery of life-enhancing services and supports, responding to the needs, wishes, and choices of people with an intellectual disability, connected to support networks in their communities. Established in 1973, the Association provides community-based Day, Residential, and Support Services for more than 250 individuals.

The Role for Support Worker/Relief Support Worker:
* Planning and setting goals with individuals to assist them in meeting their personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training and supported employment needs.
* Operating within a person-centred approach and promoting cooperation and partnership with other services, particularly with families.
* Supporting adults with an intellectual disability in the day centre and community, completing all relevant reports and documentation, and implementing New Directions in line with National standards for day services.
* Providing physical support, including personal care, emotional support, and health care support while encouraging personal skills development through hobbies and interests.
* Teaching life skills and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure high standards of care.
* QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support or equivalent qualifications with a minimum of 1 year relevant experience working with adults with an intellectual disability.
* Applications from candidates who have completed at least 1 year of their Nursing or Social Care degree will also be considered.
* A full driver’s licence with access to a car insured for business purposes is essential (desirable for relief roles).
* Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.
The Role for Relief Social Care Worker:
* Facilitating and implementing a person-centred approach appropriate to the wishes and goals of individuals.
* Promoting and protecting the rights of the people supported, respecting their dignity, choice, and privacy.
* Actively seeking new interests and opportunities for individuals to develop meaningful roles in their communities.
* Supporting residents to attend community events and day centres.
* Ensuring the overall wellbeing of individuals in all areas of their lives, including health and personal care.
* Involvement in local team meetings.
* Must be eligible for registration on the Social Care Workers registration board with CORU from November 2023 and obtain such registration by November 2025.
* A passion for promoting and empowering those supported.
* An excellent knowledge of HIQA regulations and standards.
* A full driver’s licence with access to a car insured for business purposes and willingness to drive Association vehicles is desirable.
* Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.
