Overview
The Practice Development Co-ordinator will:
* Facilitate the development of a continuous process of improvement in nursing practice in the acute setting and excellence in the quality of care being provided.
* Strategically plan, develop and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with the nursing management teams and nursing staff.
* Participate in audit and research as determined by the role.
There is currently one permanent whole-time post available in Louth Hospitals. A panel may be created for Louth Hospitals from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled.

The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.
HSE Dublin and North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and most areas of Cavan. HSE Dublin and North East Region includes the following hospitals:

Essential Criteria
* Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
* Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
* Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann).
And
* Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years nursing management experience at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM 2) in an acute setting.
* Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider.
And
* Candidates must possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
* Annual registration
* Practitioners must maintain live annual registration in the General Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann).
And
* Confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance certificate (PSAC).
Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Post Specific Requirements
* Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience/involvement in clinical practice management, practice development, education or quality improvement as relevant to the role.

* Access to appropriate transport as this post will involve some travel.
