Our client is an innovative, autonomous, manufacturing business. They are at the forefront of setting a new standard in sustainable construction here in Ireland. They have two world-class manufacturing sites just 40 minutes apart by road and are the largest timber processor in Ireland, supplying to the UK and Europe. The brand is recognised throughout the sector for its high quality, innovation and sustainability. They currently employ only 400 people and are looking for an Engineering Manager to join their operation in Leinster.
The Position
They are currently searching for an Engineering Manager, who will report to the Operations Manager and will lead all aspects of engineering onsite within the Operations team. The Engineering Manager will provide strategic guidance to continually optimise plant safety, performance, efficiency, yield and reliability.
Key Responsibilities would include:
1. Develop and maintain an environment of continuous improvement and process excellence.
2. Develop key cross-functional relationships with Production, Quality, Environmental and Capital project departments.
3. Build relationships with OEMs and other equipment vendors to develop asset replacement & upgrade pipelines.
4. Develop future technology strategy and execution plan e.g., Role of AI and IoT, processing and use of big data, practical AR use, Cybersecurity and additive manufacturing.
5. Develop and implement maintenance/engineering and capital spending plans.
6. Work closely with the maintenance manager to provide leadership and coordination of major planned interventions.
7. Lead root cause analysis and problem solving relating to downtime events, quality/yield issues and speed using a structured problem-solving methodology.
8. Develop corrective action plans to mitigate the risk of unplanned downtime.
9. Compliance with relevant statutory, regulatory requirements and internal governance requirements.
10. Ensure the Engineering and Maintenance teams adhere to all relevant health, safety, environmental and quality standards while delivering on key plant objectives.
11. Work cross functionally to assist the company in achieving its Sustainability goals.
The Person
1. Level 8 Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Process Engineering) or other relevant Engineering discipline.
2. 5 years of experience in heavy industry or wood processing plant is highly advantageous.
3. A proven track record of managing maintenance and/or engineering projects through to completion.
4. Competency regarding safety regulations for large scale manufacturing sites.
5. Knowledge of LEAN maintenance practices and CMMS.
