Location: Lucan Youth Services (1 day per Week – Monday) & Swords / Baldoyle Youth Service (Tuesday – Friday)
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Crosscare Band DYS €34,513-€48,125
Reporting to: Swords / Baldoyle Youth Service Manager
The Role: The purpose of this role is to organise and facilitate outdoor learning programs and provide training to young people and staff of Crosscare, as part of the Outdoor Learning team.
General Responsibilities:
* To deliver programs and training in a professional manner and commit to continued personal development.
* To take a youth work-based approach focused on young people identified as most in need in an area.
* To link with local youth work staff about identifying the young people and planning the right activities for them. Activities to be planned, organised, and delivered will include hill walking, climbing, kayaking, and other water sports.
* To help develop the skills and abilities of youth workers to participate in these activities.
* To work as part of the Outdoor Learning team in developing, promoting, and evaluating the Outdoor Learning service.
* To promote best practice and display a commitment to always act in accordance with Crosscare’s values, policies, and procedures.
* Any other reasonable duties as required by the Service Manager/Outdoor Learning Manager.
* The role involves travel between various locations.
Essential Requirements:
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young people in an outdoor learning setting.
* A relevant third level qualification in the area of outdoor learning/adventure sports/youth studies/social care or equivalent is essential.
Essential Qualifications:
Driving licence or close to completion, Level 2 Kayak Instructor, Coasteering Leader trained, Rock climbing instructor, Mountain Leader Training and/or Lowland leader award, Current first aid & 1 additional Water-sports qualification.
Desirable Qualifications:
* B and/or D1 licence, Level 3 Kayak Instructor or higher, Mountain Skills provider or higher, Surf Instructor, Mountain Bike Instructor & coaching/trainer experience, Powerboat safety cert, Life skills coach.
* A qualification to run courses at NGB Instructor level in any discipline is very desirable.
