This Automation Engineer role at NETGEAR in Cork focuses on creating and maintaining innovative automated solutions across our mobile application development lifecycle, including quality assurance, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, developer tools, and codebase health monitoring. The role also involves utilizing test management tools like Zephyr for streamlining test cases, execution cycles, and comprehensive reporting. Using BrowserStack for cross-platform testing ensures our mobile applications deliver exceptional experiences consistently across diverse devices and environments. This position follows a hybrid work model (availability to work circa two days per month in the Cork office) Key Responsibilities: Design and implement robust automated test suites that validate the functionality, performance, and scalability of NETGEAR's mobile applications (iOS and Android) and backend systems. Manage test cases, execution cycles, and reporting using test management tools, ensuring full visibility of test coverage and quality metrics. Create and schedule automated tests across multiple devices and environments using device farms (like BrowserStack) to ensure compatibility and reliability of NETGEAR's mobile applications. Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to understand business requirements, evaluate test coverage, and ensure automation requirements are properly defined, implemented, and supported throughout the development process. Set up and maintain automation frameworks within CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated tests are executed continuously and efficiently. Analyze test results, system logs, and user feedback to identify patterns, root causes, and improvement opportunities - translating technical findings into clear documentation that drives product quality and enhances the development process. Develop and refine the automation infrastructure, ensuring it remains scalable, reliable, and maintainable while adapting to changing project needs and emerging technologies. Champion automation best practices across the organization, driving efficiency, quality, and consistency while mentoring others to build a stronger engineering culture. Mock services to facilitate testing and prototyping About You: Minimum Requirements: 3+ years of experience in QA automation OR software and scripting development. Experience with mobile technologies is desirable. Experience using test management tools like Zephyr to manage test cases, track execution, and report test results. Proficiency in automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, XCTest, or Espresso. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar, and integrating automated tests into these pipelines. Knowledge of testing methodologies and experience in creating test plans, test cases, and detailed bug reports. Experience with Git for version control and collaboration on test scripts. Experience with GitHub actions or similar tools Desired Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Swift, Kotlin, TypeScript, Java) for writing test scripts. Experience in DevOps practices, including automation and performance optimization in mobile app development. Experience with API testing using tools like Postman, Insomnia, RestAssured, or similar. Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner. Experience building mobile apps for IoT products or networking devices such as routers, mesh systems, or smart home hubs. Knowledge of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and how hardware communication protocols impact mobile apps.
