Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist Oncology
Our client, the Beacon Hospital, are seeking a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Outpatient Oncology Care for a fixed term role.
The purpose of this role is to provide exceptional patient care with quality, respect, care, and compassion at the core of all services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and design an effective outpatient Physiotherapy Oncology Service based on patient needs.
* Assess, plan, and oversee exercise and physical activity programs for oncology patients, including class-based interventions.
* Ensure high-quality service by implementing operational procedures that follow best practices.
* Stay updated with developments and technologies to maintain job competence.
* Adapt to changes in the work environment, engaging in activities like data analysis, clinical audits, professional development, and research.
* Provide cross-cover in other areas of the Physiotherapy service, including inpatient oncology services.
* Lead the outpatient Physiotherapy Oncology service in collaboration with the Allied Therapy Manager and Oncology Service Manager.
* Participate in managing the broader Physiotherapy Service as part of the Senior Physiotherapy Management team and occasionally deputize for the Physiotherapy Manager.
* Foster positive working relationships through open communication.
* Contribute to staff induction, appraisal, and in-service training programs.
* Promote continuing education and research activities aligned with the role.
* Maintain necessary records and statistics for organizational and legal purposes, including injury/incident documentation.
* Produce a service report for the Physiotherapy Annual Report.
* Maintain an up-to-date asset register for equipment.
* Regularly review and update Oncology Policy documents or delegate this task.
* Oversee equipment safety tests in accordance with the department’s Safety Policy.
* Manage the ongoing performance reviews of junior staff members.
* Implement effective safety procedures in compliance with the Health, Safety, and Welfare at Work Act and the hospital’s values.
* Ensure faulty equipment is removed from use and restored to safe operation promptly.
Criteria/Qualifications
* Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent, eligible for membership with the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists, and CORU Registered.
* Desirable: Master's degree in oncology rehabilitation/exercise medicine / Certification in lymphoedema management / Strength and conditioning qualification.
* At least 5 years of post-graduate experience, with significant experience in oncology and relevant post-graduate training.
* Desirable: Membership in an oncology professional network.
* Note: Hours of work may vary, and evening cover may be required based on service needs.
