Overview of the Role
The Demi Chef at The Ross Hotel plays an integral role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, delivering exceptional food quality and creating memorable dining experiences for our guests. Working closely with the Head and Sous Chef, you will assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes while maintaining high culinary and hygiene standards. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your culinary skills within a dynamic and innovative team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparation and Cooking:
Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes across various sections of the kitchen, including starters, mains, desserts, and sauces. Follow all recipes and presentation standards to ensure consistency and quality.
2. Hygiene and Safety:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Adhere to HACCP guidelines and all health and safety regulations.
3. Stock Management:
Support inventory management by checking and rotating stock. Assist in the preparation and portioning of ingredients to minimize waste.
4. Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure a positive working environment. Mentor and guide junior team members, contributing to their growth and development.
5. Creativity and Development:
Participate in menu development, contributing creative ideas for seasonal and innovative dishes. Stay updated with culinary trends and share knowledge with the team.
6. Service Excellence:
Prepare and serve dishes on time to meet customer expectations. Participate in daily briefings and address any specific dietary requirements or allergens.
7. Equipment and Maintenance:
Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly.

* Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
* A strong passion for cooking and a commitment to high standards.
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
