Social Care Worker - Bray, Co. Wicklow
Purpose of Role:
Aftercare services are support services that build on and support the work that has already been undertaken by many including, foster carers, social workers and residential workers in preparing young people for adulthood. Everyone has a key role to play in preparing young people to reach their developmental milestones. At present the company has vacancies in aftercare, transitional care and within the sphere of outreach work with young people/vulnerable adults in the community living independently or in Family/Foster Care Setting.

Barrog Healthcare is a small private health & social care company based in Dublin with services nationwide providing residential care and day packages nationwide to enable people who need support across the areas of mental health, disability, aftercare, transitional and mainstream social care. Salary: €15 to €18.62 hourly. It is expected that new entrants will start on the lowest entry point to the scale for the role.
Job Type: Full time, Part time
Working Hours: 12 hour day shifts, 12 hour live night shifts, 24 hour shifts. Flexibility for shift work may be required due to the 24/7 nature of the role.
Reporting Relationship: This post will report to the Aftercare coordinator
Job Title: Social Care Worker
Probation: 6 months
Vetting: All applicants will be subject to reference checks, Garda Vetting and a request to provide security clearance from any country in which they resided for more than 6 months after their 16th birthday.

Essential Criteria:
Permission to work in Ireland.
Candidates must have a relevant qualification. At a minimum a B.A. in Social Care, QQIL7/FETAC7 - FETAC, B.A. in Applied Social Care or equivalent.
Applicants for the role of Social Care Worker must:
1. Be registered in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORU.
OR
1. Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary) ( )
OR
1. Be eligible for registration in the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board maintained by CORU (evidence of application will be necessary)
AND
Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of office.
The following will be seen as an advantage:
Full clean driver's license
One year of experience in a Social Care setting.
Experience/knowledge of report writing and client support plans.
Previous experience working with and supporting service users with challenging behaviour and mental health.
Candidate Skills / Experience
The ability to support the client group in a non-judgemental way and from a trauma informed perspective with respect at all times.
The ability to prevent and manage challenging behaviour.
Strong communication & interpersonal skills
Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Comfortable working with essential information technology and providing reports
Main Duties/ Responsibilities:
To support the development and implementation of Care/Placement plans and to ensure appropriate recording of same.
To promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/service user or vulnerable adult.
To encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
To liaise with the parent, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the service user.
To link in and take direction from your Management Team.
To implement Barrog Healthcare's policies and procedures.
To work as a member of a team.
To prepare and provide, in conjunction with the client, well balanced meals of high quality.
To undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep, and cleaning.
Attend staff meetings and contribute constructively to the ongoing progression/implementation of the care plan.
To attend team meetings and to report to the Service Manager/Team Leader on matters affecting the delivery of service.
To be accountable for any money spent on behalf of B.H.C. during the course of duty.
To make written and verbal reports to the relevant Manager on a regular basis on the progress and development of the client.
Reporting and recording any incidents, however minor, that may happen to the client or are caused by them.
To be familiar with emergency procedures and to know who to contact in an emergency.
To work as a member of a team.
To keep abreast of current legislation and current professional childcare knowledge.
To undertake ongoing professional training and development.
To attend regular supervision.
To prepare reports for and to participate in professional meetings including case conferences and strategy meetings ensuring that all records relating to those meetings are maintained to a high standard as appropriate / required under the direction of the Management Team.
To perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
