The Opportunity: Based at our new Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) manufacturing facility in Kilkenny, Ireland, we are seeking a skilled Controls Engineering Team Lead to join our expanding team.
Responsibilities:
* Manage a team of controls, systems, and vision engineers
* Provide technical leadership on all controls engineering topics
* Support in-production Automated Manufacturing Equipment
* Troubleshoot and solve problems with processes and hardware
* Plan preventive maintenance of controls systems
* Coordinate with others to investigate problems and implement solutions
* Provide technical assistance as needed by internal customers
* Manage relations with vendors
* Define performance metrics
* Support qualification and validation activities
* Lead projects to specify and implement new processes and process improvements
Requirements:
* Level 7 NFQ qualification in Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
* 6+ years of experience in a similar position
* Experience managing teams and projects
* Experience with Allen Bradley Controllogix PLCs and Siemens TIA portal
* Experience with developing user and system requirements specifications
* Experience in controls system development and deployment
* Experience in software testing, verification, and validation
* Experience with supporting manufacturing systems
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Experience with controlling and implementing software changes
* Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate information from varied disciplines and work within a highly regulated environment
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master's Degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Biomedical, or Software), or related discipline
* Experience working in the medical device industry
* Experience with line controllers, SCADA, MES systems
