What does this role involve?
* Lead Lab team including resource management, coaching, and succession planning to develop a high performing team.
* Manage site chemistry laboratory including equipment, consumables, and laboratory calibrations.
* Drive a continuous improvement agenda to ensure a culture of right first time and audit readiness in the lab area.
* Compliance with relevant standards such as BRC etc.
* Oversee structure of shelf life, retained samples, and end of life testing programs.
* Manage Customer Specifications ensuring site impact of requirements is clearly communicated to team.
* Lead stock on hold management & decision making on suitability for customers and/or downgrade stream as required.
* Responsibility for managing laboratory test methods, procedures, and records and training out of these to the Quality team.
* Manage relationship with external laboratories driving continuous improvement.
What is required for this role?
* Food Science Qualification.
* 3/4 years in a Food Manufacturing / Laboratory environment in dairy/food industry.
* Experience in operating within a Food Safety and Quality Management System in a production or lab facility is essential.
* Experience in leading, coaching, and developing teams is desirable.
* Ability to sensory evaluate dairy products.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and administrative skills.
* Committed attitude with the ability to display initiative and make decisions.
* Flexible to provide cover within the team as required.
