We design and produce custom-built plastic solutions for the BioPharma, Pharmaceutical, and Medical Device sectors. Role Description: Design Engineer
Location: On-site in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are currently seeking a Design Engineer with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on product design, development, and support for production. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CAD/CAM systems and the ability to take designs from concept through to fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create detailed 2D and 3D designs and technical drawings using CAD/CAM software
2. Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
3. Develop prototypes and improve existing products based on feedback and performance
4. Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver customised design solutions
5. Maintain accurate documentation, including technical specs, and change requests
6. Provide input on tooling, materials, and production processes
7. Contribute to continuous improvement in design, workflow, and efficiency
Qualifications
1. Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Design Engineer or similar role
2. Proficiency with CAD/CAM software — experience with Fusion 360, SpaceClaim, Progecad/Autocad or equivalent is essential
3. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances
4. Ability to interpret technical drawings and communicate designs effectively
5. Experience working in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment is a plus
6. Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
7. Attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
8. Must be legally authorised to work in Ireland
9. Relevant third-level engineering qualification preferred — however, equivalent practical experience will also be considered
