Join our dedicated team where we provide specialist civil engineering services in the Planning and Development of High Voltage Transmission and Distribution Assets for the Networks Business.
The team specialises in:
Site Acquisition.Planning Stage Design.Consultation with Planning Authorities and State Bodies.Design Safety Management.Project Scoping, Programming and Cost Estimation.The role includes the delivery of civil engineering and planning services and coordination of appropriate technical specialists from project inception through planning stage design and submission for electricity infrastructure projects at ESB. It also involves assisting with the mentoring and professional development of junior employees.
Key Responsibilities Managing planning stage designs relating to the delivery of HV substations projects including pre-planning consultation with planning authorities, scoping, development of planning drawings and coordination of specialists input e.g. hydrology, ecology, geotechnical etc.Provide specialist civil engineering technical advice for HV substations projects.Scope HV substations projects to facilitate Capital Approval of projects.Undertake the Lead Engineer role, coordinating multi-disciplinary designs, interfacing with clients/stakeholders, fee and programme management. Relevant training will be provided.Mentor and provide technical support for the development of junior employees.Promote and actively participate in safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.Experience and Qualifications Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.At least 7 years relevant Civil engineering or planning stage design experience.Strong technical capability, in Civil engineering and/or planning stage design.Proven ability to manage significant projects/key aspects of projects.Strong commercial and project management capability.Excellent safety awareness and communication skills.Full driver's licence valid for use in the ROI, access to a car and flexibility to travel nationwide.Experience in Civil Engineering/Utility projects would be advantageous.Experience in planning stage design and submission within the jurisdiction.Experience in performing PSDP role on projects.Chartered status or working towards chartered status in a recognised professional institution.Location This position will be based in one of ESB E&MP's Offices at Dublin Airport or Eastgate, Cork.
